A family  photography session is an incredible way to capture some beautiful memories. This could be photos with all family members babies, little sitters or children up to 5yrs including parents, siblings and grandparents ..

My aim and style is to provide a relaxed and genuine fun session for you as a family this can be either in the studio or on location  so you can be assured that your photos will capture  your beautiful family in a natural and authentic way.

Why would you want a family session

For me, a good portrait doesn't have to involve the perfect pose or the cutest smile. It's all about capturing real moments, emotions and reactions.

Watching how quickly my own children grow and continue to change and mature as each day passes, I am so aware how easy it is to forget the beautiful moments of everyday life.

Whether it be the first heady days with your newborn, the gappy teeth of your little person or the simple chaos of family life, I hope that my images will help capture just a bit of your story, preserving memories for years to come.

The session and what is involved

From the moment you book your session I will be in contact with you to discuss how you would like the session to go, your preferences and who you would like to attend the session.  I consider each family as unique with an abundance of personalities so I love to hear your ideas so that we can work together to create those memorable images together.

The session could be in the studio or if you prefer natural images we can do these on location in your own garden, woods or a favourite place of your choice.

The studio session will be around 1hr and I do allow for small breaks to ensure that all the family are happy throughout.  If it is on location I will work around you.

What do I wear?

This is one question I do get asked quite often.  When you invest in a professional photos you will want to have them displayed on the walls of your home for many years to come so it really is worth giving some consideration to you choices of outfits.

I have put some tips and ideas for you to:

  • First and foremost you should feel comfortable. Outdoor location shoots can be chilly or hot depending upon the time of year and weather.  Layers of clothing will help with this.  especially true for little ones.

  • Choose clothes that are 'you, and your style'. It sounds obvious, but I want you to be comfortable and relaxed throughout the shoot.

  • Avoid large logos, heavy branding and loud patterns to avid distracting the eye from you and your beautiful family.

  • Avoid items that crease easily.

  • Bring accessories along to the shoot (hats are a personal favourite).   They  can provide you with a pop of colour and enable me to to capture your personalities.  Scarves, pashminas, ponchos, tutus, costume jewellery have all worked really well in the past too.

  • Group shots look great when the individuals are wearing clothing of a similar style and colour palette. But think co-ordinating rather than matching

  • Consider your home decor. If you have a specific colour scheme at home, this can be worth considering, if the images will ultimately be printed and framed on the walls.

I am happy to offer any further advice if needed.

After care

After your session I will get to work on selecting the best images from the day and retouch them as proofs for your viewing. This process takes approximately two weeks and I will contact you when they are ready.  This is the first time you will see your images after your session so I will invite you back into the studio in a relaxed, and stress free comfortable environment.  I will be on hand to assist and advice you on products available for you to display your images. I will also provide you with a unique, secure online gallery for you to view and share your images with your family and friends in the comfort of your own home.
